Lighthouse.io is showcasing how The Internet of Things (IoT) is transforming security

Jun 23, 2016

MEDIA RELEASE

Lighthouse.io today announched they are launching an IoT security management platform powered by Bluetooth Beacons at the 2016 Melbourne Security Exhibition and Conference on July 20-22. The software platform and mobile app helps businesses improve visibility of security operations, improve SLA compliance and eliminate inefficient paper based processes.

Bluetooth Beacons gained popularity in late 2014, when Apple, Google and Samsung backed the technology as a key enabler for the Internet of Things. If you’re not familiar with Beacons, they are small wireless devices that broadcast signals using Bluetooth Low Energy. Smartphones with a mobile app installed listen for these signals and can then track movement and deliver mobile interactions in real-time. How does this impact security? Think super accurate guard tracking and mobile first workflows such as location based task lists, incident reports and alerts for missed check-ins and KPI’s.

Most of the hype around Bluetooth Beacons has been limited to the retail sector and the ability to target shoppers with personalised content and offers based on their location. However, the team at Lighthouse.io saw a bigger opportunity to use the technology to better understand the movement of workers and assets in industries like cleaning, health, logistics and now security.

After 18 months of development, talking to potential customers about their needs, and testing with end users, the team is ready to launch and showcase ‘Lighthouse.io for Security’ at the Melbourne Security Exhibition and Conference 20-22 July.

“Industries like cleaning and security have seen very little innovation over the past decade,” said Ben Howden, CMO at Lighthouse.io. “In today’s environment, quality service alone is not enough to win over clients and security companies are facing increased pressure to drive more efficiency in the way they deliver their services. We’re excited about bringing a new innovation to the market that will help the industry transform the way they manage their workforce and assets” he continues.

The Lighthouse.io for Security platform consists of a dedicated mobile app for employees and a web based reporting console for Supervisors and Managers. Key features include real-time maps showing the location of security guards and assets, mobile duress functions, mobile task lists, incident reports, secure messaging, and alerts for missed KPI’s. The Lighthouse.io team will be conducting live demonstrations of the technology at the Security Exhibition and Conference and will be located in the Guarding & Personnel Pavilion at Stand A27. If you’re attending the event make sure you stop by to say hi and learn more about the technology that is powering the Internet of Things revolution.
