Connecting a campus – Barker’s journey with LED screens, scoreboards and digital signage
This presentation explores Barker College's comprehensive adoption of digital display technologies across its main campus, both indoors and outdoors. The college, which recently completed its transition to full coeducation amidst a significant increase in student enrolment and campus expansion, faced the challenge of effectively connecting its large and diverse campus community.
Key to Barker's strategy was the careful selection and implementation of high-quality LED screens. Mark emphasises the importance placed on reliability, ease of use, and robust backend systems for control, video distribution, and maintenance.
The recent transition to full coeducation also necessitated an upgrade in the school's scoreboard systems. Barker College sought a solution that could support all sports equally, ensuring that staff, students, and guests could easily access high-quality scoreboards for any sporting event.
Digital signage plays a crucial role in Barker's communication strategy. Attendees will learn how the college strategically uses digital signage to inform and engage its diverse audience. This includes considerations of content management - who oversees content creation and updates, how frequently content is refreshed, and methods to maintain relevancy and engagement.
Reflecting on their journey, Mark will highlight what has worked well for Barker and identifies areas for future improvement. He offers practical advice for schools looking to implement similar technologies, emphasizing the importance of aligning technology investments with educational goals and community needs. This presentation underscores Barker College's proactive approach to leveraging digital displays to foster connectivity, enhance communication, and support their evolving campus environment.
