Associate Professor Daniel Saffioti is the current Director of Solution and Project Services at Western Sydney University where he is responsible for overseeing a team of dedicated professionals who deliver technology solutions for the University. Prior to joining the University in this role Daniel was the Chief Information and Digital Officer at the Australian Nuclear Science Technology Organisation and Australian Synchrotron overseeing all the digital aspects of the Nation’s Landmark Infrastructure including Australia’s only Nuclear Reactor, OPAL, the Australian Synchrotron along with leading the digital transformation agenda in both organisations.

In addition to his professional roles, Daniel currently holds concurrent academic appointments at both Western Sydney University and Charles Sturt University. Prior to joining Western, Daniel was Associate Professor in Computer Science at the University of Wollongong (UOW) whilst being UOW’s Deputy Director in Information Technology responsible for Infrastructure and Academic Computing. He's research interests have been related to novel applications of technology in Health, Pyschology, Education and Systems.

Daniel has had a significant role in contributing to STEM and Innovation agenda through his teaching, outreach activities and prior corporate roles. Daniel was a mentor at iAccelerate (Illawarra's Innovation and Entrepeneur Incubator) for a number of years where he mentored students starting companies, an Executive on Apple's Education Board, The AUC for over a decade where he developed a comprehensive National Developer Training Program for University Students and finally had an active role in policy setting through the Australian Government Science Agency CIO Committee and Department of Industry, Science and Innovation CIO Committee.

To complement his executive, professional and academic experiences, Daniel provides IT, advisory & management consultancy se
rvices to a number of organisations, ranging from startups, not for profits, registered training organisations, higher education organisations & multinational corporations. Daniel is also an active Board Member and Director several private and publicly listed entities.

Daniel is passionate about technology and the "magical powers" it has to help individuals and organisations grow and change for the better.
