Danielle Austin, RN, has more than 15 years of clinical experience including as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Emergency and in remote primary healthcare in immigration detention. For the past 8 years she has been the Incident Response Manager for St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney and has acquired in depth experience in disaster management, risk management and incident response with proven skills in policy and procedure development, strategic planning, and education provision. Danielle has further developed this role with a particular focus on managing violence and aggression as the Hospital’s project team lead on the development and implementation of their Code Black Procedure in close collaboration with the Security Team. Danielle is the SVH Code Black Team Leader, implementing risk management and response strategies addressing Code Black incidents across the hospital, and liaising with patients’ care teams to ensure appropriate behavioural management plans are in place. Moving forward, Danielle is looking to further refine the Hospital’s clinical security hybrid response and management model following significant improvements in Code Black incident outcomes.
