Learning Environment Integration: The Next Chapter
In 2019, Chris Downer, representing Beaconhills College, delivered a compelling presentation titled 'Moving from Reactive to Proactive AV Management'. The session delved into the initial state of the college's audiovisual facilities preceding a comprehensive 5-year AV refresh initiative spanning from 2016 to 2020. The strategic approach behind the rollout was discussed, highlighting aspects such as standardisation and the rationale behind selecting specific systems to bolster the learning experience.
Fast forward to 2024, as Beaconhills College prepares for another significant wave of Audiovisual upgrades across its 300 learning environments, Chris will share insights into the evolving perspective on this investment. His discussion will extend to the holistic design of learning environments, emphasising the essential components needed to foster both utility and warranty in the educational experience. Central to achieving these objectives is the alignment with the College’s Educational model, which identifies key areas for investment and development: People, Programs, Places, and Practice. The presentation will showcase contemporary technical solutions tailored to support teaching and learning strategies, underpinned by robust support infrastructures for both personnel and hardware. This includes streamlined day-to-day AV operations for remote management, minimally disruptive installation procedures, and staff development initiatives to optimise utilisation.
Furthermore, the session will address the pivotal role of environmental factors such as acoustics, visibility, furniture, and colour schemes in enhancing the overall learning experience, ensuring the creation of healthy and conducive learning environments for all stakeholders.
