Protecting the Crown Jewels: Forging the Path to a Resilient Water Services Infrastructure Culture
ASIAL Security Conference
Water infrastructure is exposed to increasingly complex and interconnected hazards. This includes long and opaque supply chains, internet-based communications and data storage, exposure to frequent natural disasters and potential sabotage from within and without. In response, the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act 2018 is legislated to build national resilience from the ground up, including with specific obligations for designated critical water infrastructure.
Central Coast Council’s Water and Sewer business has been able to demonstrate compliance with the SOCI Act and has now embedded the principles of critical infrastructure security into its operational culture.
